A little something to do with your Model T on a very hot day in Indianapolis.
Fill the bed with a tarp and 12 good sized watermelons. Plug each one and add a bottle of vodka and one bottle of woodford reserve burbon. Cover with ice and let set overnight . Add new ice the following day and drive to local car show ( Road Rocket Rumble). Start the line at 1:00 and serve them all !! Pretty good hobby we have here huh ????? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I do my picnic the lazy way. I watch the paper for the local Catholic church picnics in my rural area and hop in the T and head there a little before the noon meal. There abour 7 or 8 picnics on different Sundays during the summer and they are open to the public. (You do not need to be any special religion)
Food beer and soda pop are sold there and most of the time it is very good. Also the T lets me park up close as it provides entertainment and I have never been asked to park somewhere else. There are also bingo, ring toss and other games for the adults and some for the kids. Last edited by Willie in Houston; 06-23-2014 at 04:14 PM. Reason: forgot something |

That's cool. So, for us uneducated beer drinkers, you tip a bottle of spirits up into the hole in the melon, and it kind of absorbs there for the night? One bottle of Vodka and bourbon into the same melon at the same time? Thanks for the recipe. I'll give it a try over the Fourth of July Holiday.

Actually the recipe is take the warm melon and make a hole and put in a bottle of vodka or a bourbon bottle. Upside down the melon will absord a small amount , cover melons with ice and they will take a tea cup or more over night. The ice makes them suck it in. Works pretty good as we have done this for this show ( Road Rocket Rumble Indianapolis) for many years............. ![]() |
