Default Spring perch thread size?

I have a perch that I need to run a tap down to clean up some threads. I am going to buy the tap tomorrow but what size do I need? My taps do not go that large.

Actually you need a DIE. Do you have a Parts Price List? They list all the sizes for the hardware and bolts used in the chassis. Repro 1931 books don't cost much and can be purchased from most all the dealers. Off hand I don't know the size but will look it up for you if someone doesn't answer first.

5/8-18

A threading file might also work for you.
