Looking for detail article on Shock identification

I am recalling there was an article in one of the National Club magazines on shock absorber identification. It went further then the JS on production dates and details.

The article had a bunch of pictures of the front and back of the shocks and listed the years. I have gone through the index and checked most of the references, but did not find it.

Am I crazy? Was there such an article?

If there was such an article could someone please point me to it.
