I bought my coupe from Neil Mylar who is a member here back in 09 I think. I bought a new gas valve from Snyders then for it because the original one leaked. It started a slow leak this past fall but now I can't keep it from really dripping. Are these rebuildable? They said guatanteed but I guess it's just a 4 year guarantee.

If it is leaking through the carburetor. Empty the tank of gas. Take the gas valve apart and put some tooth paste on the inner part, put the valve body back in and run it around several times to lap the two parts. Have done this on an original valve and it works. You have to remove the handle when turning the inner part. If leaking around the valve where the handle connects, you can try tightening the packing nut.

I just put one of the Snyder Valves on my PU. The original was worn out. At first I thought it was leaking too. But fiddling with it showed me that it just wasn't seating well against the gas line. Might be the case with yours. If not, well, they aren't that expensive.

It has been working well for over 4 years, just started leaking so it is not an issue of poor seating. It is leaking out the carb. I also noticed the handle now is very easy to turn, it used to be rather tight.

sounds like the packing nut backed off if it has one, like others said shoul dbe a nut behind the handle, snug it up some and leaks should go away. (much like on a garden hose or washer shutoff valves)

I have a filter in the tank and the sediment bowl after 4 years has barely anything in it but I could imagine something causing the barrel to score and creating this leak. Never thought of that. Think I am just going to buy a new valve.

I had the same experience after 3 years, I also have the finger filter in the tank the warranty is only one year, I purchased another valve and later took the leaky one apart and found something unknown had stuck in the bottom of the valve causing it to unseat, cleaned it and it tested OK.

I concur with Brent that the new valves are very good.... but that most leak issues I've found are due to rust and debris in the fuel from the tank that is causing the issues. Few tanks.. are really rust free and clean.
