Default 28 Phaeton remove seat back springs

I want to remove my upholstered seat back spring (front and back) from my 28 phaeton and hopefully reinstall it later, but I am not sure how it is actually held in place. Please let me know if my assumptions are correct and what else I will need to do.

I suspect the seat back spring is upholstered similarly to the bottom cushion and also has a "flap" of material that is tacked to the wood strip and then covered with hidem strip.

Once the flap is carefully detached from the tack rail, how is the back spring cushion removed from the car?

Are the side panels at the driver's side and hips separate items that are installed prior to installing the seat back spring?

Any other tips would also be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

On mine you just put your hand under the lip of the middle of the bottom of the back seat, and give it a lift up. There is actually a place under the seat to put your jack and some tools under there.
The back seat frame fits over some lips in the rear of the car. I have seen a screw holding it down on the bottom, but most times once you get the bottom out, you can lift the seat back up & off the frame.

There are two metal clamps attached to the centre section of the frame that hold the seat back in place. I think you push down on the seat backrest and it should release and then you will be able to see what the other one is like.

I think you are in for a giant task. The front seat would be the easiest of the two to do, but would still be tough. The big problem is the salvage edge has been cut off and the hidem tacked on to cover the raw edge. Without any extra material (upholstery) to pull on to stretch, it would be very hard to get a nice tight top of the seatback upon reinstalling the upholstery. The rear seat would be even tougher. The top is tacked over the rear seatback upholstery if the car has a top and was installed correctly. This again would be very hard times 2 as the rear seatback would have the same problem as the front seatback (no salvage remaining), but the top would have the same problem, no salvage material to pull the top tight and retack it. Good luck, but I think doing what you propose might be next to impossible and get a nice job when done. I hate to be negative, but this is what I think the task would be.

Thanks,
I can see that re-attaching the flap will be a "challenge".

Are the side panels at the shoulder/hip separate pieces, and are they installed prior the seat back cushion?

Peace

Yes, the shoulder pieces are separate and installed before the seat back.
