Question Phaeton top frame support attachment

One of the top frame support brackets has become detached. It's the bracket that supports the top when it is in the lowered position. It can't be removed from the body as there is part of the fixing still attached but there doesn't appear to be anything in there to fix it to. The problem is I don't know how it fixes together and the only way in appears to be to remove the rear side upholstery which seems a bit destructive. Anybody got any shots of what should be in there and any suggestions on how it can be fixed?

I would think in order to fix it the upholstery panel is going to have to come off irregardless. If you remove the OTHER side's panel you may discover how it's attached. Unless someone has pictures to post.

A nut is welded or crimped to the bracket and the upholstery must be removed to fix it. One of mine is also loose.

I am posting a picture of the area I think you are referring to. Is the problem you have, with the bracket where the C clamp is? This is the bracket that holds the stud the top rest forging slides onto to support the top irons when the top is down. There is no way to repair it without removing the rear shoulder upholstery and maybe more stuff. It could be a major job to repair it. The bracket is spot welded in 2 places and is attached to the vertical wood with a machine screw at the bottom of the bracket.

Thanks wrndln. That's exactly what I needed to see. I'm a bit concerned that the plate appears to be fixed behind the timber frame. I can't see an easy way to do a bit of keyhole surgery. The original fixing is by a single secured nut. It could be possible to fix with two nuts and a lot of Loctite - but I still have to get in there.
