Default Converting windshield wiper to 12volt

I have a 6 v wiper I want to convert to 12v. Does anyone have information on the number of windings and the wire gage that I would need? Or is there a resistor I could use that is rated for continous duty?

I would forget the wiper and use Rain-X, but for the wiper motor you could try a 1 to 1 1/2 ohm ceramic resistor rated about 35 watts, and be sure to mount it where it can cool and not burn something.

Hi!
I rewound the field coils of mine with twice as many turns as the original using 24 gauge wire. You may have a hard time getting the last few turns in there. Works great. With a dropping resistor, it really slows down with a load and when really wet, it almost throws the blade off of the arm, it goes so fast. I rewound my horn using the same wire and it works great on 12v.
