Default Old Photo - See the Ford's Snarled in Traffic After a New England Snow Storm

The press photo seen above taken in an unknown Massachusetts city, shows a bit of a traffic problem after a reported thirteen-inch snowstorm. In the photo can be seen a wide variety of vehicles, the oldest of which appears to be a Model “T ” truck on the right and on the left is a much more modern mid-thirties GM sedan. Tell us what you see here in the way of Fords in the scene.

You can also see two excellent winter 1930s plowing films (sample photos below), one of an Oshkosh truck (left below) armed with both vee and wing plows in Barnum, Minnesota on the left plowing 4-6 foot snow. And the other film shows a Walter Snow Fighter (right below) working very hard on the Tug Hill Plateau in upstate New York, where record snowfalls occur yearly and the snow was so deep it turned into a spectator sport. Both can be seen along with many more interesting winter time car photos on The Old Motor.

There is a 33-34 Deluxe Tudor behind the panel truck on the right. Nice to see that little 32 charging right along.

I would like to know more about the pair of panel trucks with the parcels on top under tarps. Anyone know anything about the company the which appears to be spelled out as Bamry?

Format matches "1940 Mass" plates that I Googled. Googling "1945 Mass" plates, the "45" is to the LEFT of "MASS". DD

Almost as many panel delivery's as there are autos in that photo! The '33 Deluxe behind the Deuce 5W might be pretty rare if it's a V8, with only 846 produced. And there is another one with the same paint job back in the pack with the passenger door open.

Hi Everyone, Right above the guy’s hat, 1:00 position, you see a rear left side window, and part of the right side window. It looks like it says BAM on the back of the panel truck. After the M is the drivers side window of a smaller truck behind it with the boxes on top. It looks like it sorta says BAMRY, or BAMBY, or BAMBA. Then there is another truck with boxes on top at the far right. So I think there are three trucks, at least, from these guys.

Internet searches with MASSACHUSETTS and combos of those letters are not being helpful.

The couple in the car with the license plate are consulting a map? Maybe the newspaper?

The structure on the top of the hill in the background could be a clue as to location. I thought if might be the Bunker Hill Monument in Boston. I checked that monument on Bing.Maps.com and that monument looks more like the Washington Monument in DC, so my initial idea was wrong. Any of you Mass. folks have an idea?

I thought the little coupe had whitewalls but I think it was just snow. It ust have been rare to find a standard coupe with a sidemount and luggage rack.

PeteVS, I like your thinking. Right side of the photo is a Cemetery. It must still be there. This must be 'Main Street.'

This photo was likely taken by setting up a tripod on someone's roof. Look at the bottom of the photo.

Why is assumed that this is a Mass. location?
Consider the possibility that the car with the Mass. plate is a tourist visiting an unknown location

If you look closely, you'll notice there are not any tire tracks, just a lot of foot prints. I think the traffic is snow bound.

Keep V-8ing and 4-banging!

This is an original press photo that we have and many of them have a separate piece of paper on the back with the facts about the photo. In this case part is missing, but what is there states: in the city of ......Massachusetts
