The 1931 had the indented firewall with the gas valve on the engine side of the firewall. Some 1931's (early) still had the 1930 firewall.

Are you building a high point restoration or are you just worried about fit and function? After May '31 the firewall had a recess for the fuel shut off that was relocated to under the hood. During the transition some firewalls were actually stamped a second time to provide a location for the fuel shut off.

No show piece for me, just want to get it close as possible. Gentlemen here on the forum has a 31 fire wall, looks a lot better (hole wise) than mine.
So I am assuming it will ok to use the 31 fire wall?

It depends on which gas tank you have. The shut off valve inside the car
or under the hood. Bob |

If you have extra holes filling them is a lot less work than a remove and replace on the whole firewall. Bob

Bob is right, trying to remove a firewall and welding a new on back in is a lot of work. Unless it comes with a nice cowl that you can just bolt down to the frame.
