Default 1931 briggs inner fender well

Hi every one. This is my first post here at the Ford Barn. I have a question on my fender well. First I have a 1931 fordor briggs with three windows. It was made in Nov of 1930. I just found out my front doors are from 1929. Left overs I guess. Any way. I just bought some inner rear fender wells. As you can see in the pictures that I have a section raised on the inner fender well. Every where I have looked for a inner fender well has a straight inner well with no raised section were the three front bolts are. Plus I have a over hang on the bottom. The bolt holes line up and I thought the new inner well could be bent at the bottom to fit but the forum pressed in curve on the bottom would inter fear with the rebending. giving this problem what would you do? I would think the curve section on the front three bolts should be on the inner well to keep the fender bolting straight. Other wise this could cause the fend to bend when it is bolted in place. Please look at the fender picture to see what I mean. Has any one run into this problem?

Not being a metal man by any stretch of the imagination I would think that you could cut off the three holes on the new panel just like you have the line drawn on the first picture. That is if the fender matches up properly to the car now.
Good luck.

The fender matches very good. There is a lot of rust holes and fiberglass on the bottom. I would think if I did cut out the new panel and weld it in place I would lose some strength on the inner panel. I am trying not to make a lot of patches. Maybe that's what I need to do cutting the top panel and then cut lower section of the panel to make it fit up tight on the bottom so there is no gap. Would you think it's better to cut out the old panel in sections and weld new in or patch over the old to keep most of the strength. Keep in mind that I would sand down to bare metal and prime the old inner panel before I would add the new.

I think your plan to leave the raised part is sound as the patch you have does not have this.

I`m with Don, I did a roadster last year and only replace the bottom 2 1/2" and it turned out real nice and you can not see that it was done.

Question, the statement that what you have is a 1931 briggs that was made in 1930 with 1929 doors has me puzzled. Do you have pictures of the radiator shell?

A November 30 car would not have 29 doors on it from the factory it's just way too long after the end of 29 production. Is the number on the engine and the frame the same? I assume the title has 1931 on it? Just curious.
