Could someone please post a picture of the front of the frame rails showing the three holes the forward fender brace bolts to? I bought a chassis with a Heidt's Superide already installed and, apparently those holes are covered up, so I'm having a hard time determining how to mount the front fender braces. Thanks!

Nobody's got a unmodified 34 ford chassis sitting around that they can take a picture of the forward portion of one of the frame rails? I just need to see relative hole locations for the front fender brace.

A stock 33/34 front fender brace will need modified o work with your braces.

Consider establishing where the brace goes empirically. Fit the fenders, inner fenders, grill, hood and get everything aligned. Then mount the headlights and headlight stands and fender brace. During that process you should be able to determine where you have to trim the brace to fit the frame, and you can make accurate mount locations to the fit of your car. Note that a good fiberglass fender (advertisement!) does not really need support outboard of the headlight mount (but still needs the brace behind the fender) so the bracket can be trimmed. With a steel fender slightly pre-twist the outboard part of the bracket so its about 1/2" forward of the mount hole on the fender. When installed this will tend to straighten the bead edge of the fender.

Here is the best pic I could find.
Look at this old ad I found off The Hamb. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...-meet.1286019/ Last edited by deuce lover; 03-04-2025 at 05:18 AM. |

Thanks. Now that I'm certain of which hole I am missing, I can use the inner fenders to help locate the upper front hole and put a nutsert in it. Then, I can trim the brace to where I can bolt it into that one hole. Next, tack in a brace, install the fender and try to get the alignment right. From there, it's just design and install a nicer brace and trim the inner fender. Got it. Thanks, again.

Hers is what my frame pictures show:
![]() ![]() ![]() On the last image I placed a red mark at the lead hole of the brace. Notice it is made in front of the crossover. The other two are under/inside the crossover. I had a lot of work to do on my frame.....replaced over 40 rivets in it, with a better front crossover, plus welding in a new frame horn on the right side. |
