We steal a car from another club and auction it off...I mean....we take a car donation from another club for our club auction. If that doesn't work out be have a car show and raffle stuff that is donated by our sponsors.

The Orange County Model A Ford Club (Southern California) hosts an annual Pancake Breakfast in the Spring of each year at Hart Park in the City of Orange. It is the largest gathering of Model A's in the state of California on a single day. Next Spring will be the 53rd event. The club serves between 1200 and 1400 breakfasts that include eggs, sausage, pancakes, orange juice, and coffee all for a nominal fee. Model A's in attendance number around 300, with about 50 other vintage cars present. The highlight of the event is the raffle. It is extensive with many Model A items donated.

The City of Orange is a step back into yesteryear. It has changed little since the turn of the 20th century. Most of the buildings in the downtown area have been turned into antique stores or trendy restaurants. Model A clubs from 500 miles around attend this event. Many staying in town for the week end.

If you are going to be in Southern California next Spring be sure to put it on your calendar.

Mike, if you're near a large urban center a swap meet is a good way to go. Charge for parking or admittance (not both), a modest fee for a stall, get a free area if you can, and Bob's your uncle. The Portland Swap Meet started out like this with six local car clubs back in the early '60s. The first meet I went to had about ten vendors and ten attendees. Now it's huge (largest meet on the West Coast) and the six original clubs finance their activities from the revenues. Make sure you incorporate as a non-profit if you do this.

Tom,
Now that's a ton of Model A's! It's a long haul for breakfast from Missouri... but that is tempting!

A club I was in at one time had their own car show every year for fundraising. We also were paid to be the host club for a big show.
