Default Newbie to the forum with a '36 Truck

Hi Everyone,

After selling my '51 Chevy truck I set out to find and 1935-36 ford truck. You can say I felt in love with the flathead V8 and the crank out windshield.
Well this weekend I pulled the trigger on this beauty you see here. I know little to nothing about these trucks, so I will be learning all from scratch....

I will start by asking where is the best place to find parts?...I will be needing a few to get her to where I want it. Replacing the bed is a must, adding the glass to the doors and bringing the interior to bone stock....just to name a few

I was told the motor is '48 built by Dode Martin. It has a Chevy 5-speed tranny and 3-97 carbs. The '40 hydraulic brakes need some work and unfortunately, the tailgate was custom made and welded shot to the sides of the bed.
Looking forward to getting her on theroad once I adjust the brakes.

Very nice truck
Shouldn't be a problem to remove that tailgate, and fit it with a stock one.
You should list your location for assistance and recommendations.

Welcome to the Barn, that's a nice truck you have, and so good to see you opened the Bonnet (Hood) the right way and didn't just lay it over like so many do.

Nice looking truck! I have one that is similar, with an 8BA in it. I had good luck with C&G, very close to you in Escondido. Nice folks, large inventory. Also used Bob Drake in Oregon. And thats just on the west coast. There are many others. Good luck with the truck and enjoy.

Nice looking truck. Several companies reproduce the bed. I have a repro Mac Hils bed and it is nice. Call and talk to them before purchasing. He builds it without some of the holes, i.e. gas neck. He can cut that for you if you wish for him to do so. He does not put a bottom in the stake pockets, but can also do that if you wish. He builds the bed that way because he doesn't know if you are going stock or custom.

Stock bed is steel over a wooden sub floor.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. The immediate plans is to work on the brakes as they are spongy and not safe for long trips. The idea is to keep it close to what it already is but replace the bed to have a functional tailgate (even though I will never carry anything on the bed again), remove the rear valance and add the taillights to the rear fenders or side of the bed. Add a stock interior, chrome front and rear bumpers and YOM yellow and black plates....Enjoy the heck out of it too.

C&G and Mac Hils were good recommendations. Thank you
