hi guys ,decided to have a break from working on my 39 coupe and did some more work on my 51 f.1 import .I,v done the steering, brakes and spring shackle bushes and have now taken out the 8ba engine , two weeks ago I took everything off and took off the oil plug and also the bottom oil pump inspection plate,the oil looked normal, water spilled everywhere as I took off the bottom hoses (the rad tap was not working) the water was very bright green (anti freeze).today I lifted the engine and as it started to tilt more water came out of the water pumps and I noticed some bright green drips coming from the hole where the inspection plate was,it was anti freeze water ,it was clean and not mixed with oil ,I noticed some drips from there after the oil had been emptied 2 weeks ago but thought it must have been water from the rad had run along the engine and dripped from the outside of the hole .fingers crossed its nothing nasty,nothing shouted at me when I emptied the oil.....what do you think? cheers jim.

Gee, that seems strange. Either, the antifreeze mixed with the oil or it did not. I suspect that the antifreeze has run down long the bottom of the engine to where the oil plug/inspection plate is located. To be safe, since you already have the engine out, I would remove the heads and do some serious inspecting.

Chances are good it came from draining the radiator. Water mixed with oil is a murky looking gray and you would have noticed it right away.

it definitely was coming from the "hole ",my son was under the car in the pit and confirmed this , a mystery to me ,I,m having the sump off to cure an oil leak from the crank seal and the manifold off as it smokes a bit from the oil filler ,I,ll have a good look,...I could really do without any more drama from this vehicle , thanks jim.
