Default New Steering Wheel - but it is black

I just received my new steering wheel from Early Ford V8 Parts in Dayton and it is beutiful, but is black in color. Pictures that I have seen are maroon in color for my 1940 Ford Deluxe Convertible and the old one (too bad to fix) was maroon with a lighter outer edge. Was a black steering wheel used on a 1940 Ford Garnet Maroon Convertible? I think that the new one is going to need some paint.

Attached picture shows the steering wheel at time car was purchased and it sure isn't black.

Thanks, Fritz
