Default Center Arm Rest

This is about three Model A Fords believed to be Murray Town Sedans.
1st is an early 1930 Fordor with mohair upholstery, and a center arm rest in the rear seat back;
2nd is a late 1930 Fordor with mohair upholstery and no center arm rest;
3rd is a 1931 Slant Windshield Fordor with a center arm rest.

The mystery is the 2nd car that does not have a center arm rest. What I need to know is what 1930 & 1931 Murray built Fordors should have a center arm rest in the rear seat back?

My 1931 flat firewall slant windshield Town Sedan does not have a center arm rest, and I didn't think any slants are supposed to have one.

I think only the deluxe and townsedans had armrests in 1930 and early 31 (straight windshields).

Unless you can document that all 3 are original cars there's no telling what's been swapped out/in, modified, etc in the last 80+ years.

Only on true 29-early 31 town sedans. Believe the JS says existing supplies were used until exhausted on the slant town sddans so maybe May-June 31 they were all gone. Cost cutting I'm guessing

I'd love to have a center arm rest in my 32 Tudor B

I thought the slant windshield town sedans 160 B were different in many ways including the wider size of the interior. the earlier straight windshield sedans would not fit correctly so no middle arm rest.

The august 1930 Briggs town sedan that I had , had the center rear arm rest. I think that the 31 deluxe tudor also had it, not sure

According to the August 15, 1930 Body Parts List the following vehicles had the Rear Center Arm Rest:

A-159160-B: Brown Mohair: 155-C (Town Sedan Murray), 155-D (Town Sedan Briggs), 170-B Deluxe ONLY (Fordor-2 window);

A-159160-CR: Green Mohair: 155-C, 155-D;

A-159160-D: Bedford Cord: 155-C, 155-D, 170-B Deluxe ONLY.

Also, as Arlen says, the 1929 Murray and Briggs Town Sedans.

There may be later information in the Ford Service Letters about this.

I looked...there was no other mention of this in the FSL's! HOWEVER...WHAT WE NEED TO LOOK AT IS THE LAST PRINTED BODY PARTS LIST RELATED TO THE MODEL A FORD WHICH I DO NOT HAVE.

Pluck is right. No center armrest ever in deluxe tudor sedans or ANY 160 series slant 4 door sedan, and I would also agree that the reason was to save $$$. That was a complicated little deal that likley sold no extra cars.
