I found a NOS brass timing gear that is identical to my Model A Ford one. On the back it says Cragar. Can anyone tell me what this is? Is for a racing cam/engine?
Thanks |

its a cam gear probably made by cragar for their over head valve conversion. they went to brass or aluminum because it required more spring pressure and the fiber gear would break teeth off.

Are you sure it is brass and not bronze? Brass is soft, bronze is hard. I have never seen a brass one. Luck.

It's likely a bronze gear made by Cragar back in the day, quite common back then.
