My speedometer works about 1/3 of the time. It will work most of the time when i first start driving the car but stops shortly after. Do you think this is a speedometer or a cable problem.

You could unscrew the housing from the speedometer, jack one wheel and run the car while watching and holding the cable to make sure it turns. You can also remove the speedometer drive from the driveshaft and give it a look.

I would do just what Patrick suggested, and my first guess would be a worn driven gear on the driveshaft. I haven't replaced one, but by removing the small end cap you should be able to slide out the shaft and replace the driven gear. My 28 was worn, but I had a spare good complete 10-37 ready to bolt on, so that was an easy fix for me.
