Default steering off centre?

Have stock ajustable gemmer steering box in one vehicle , rebuilt F100 in the other, On ajusting free play in the steering box fined that only with wheels at 11 oclock can i zero the clearance hence driving in straight line there is an an amount of free play, which makes steering tricky due to excessive free play. Both boxess have the new short drop arm, In order to correct all one would need an ajustable drag link, ??
Could the relation of new ball too square be out? Anyone else had this problem & is there a cure, Yet too check if original length drop arm will correct this, Your views appreciated, Derek from a wet NZ

Have you centered your sector shaft to the worm and taken out the free play with the adjusting nut?

Are we talking about both boxes, or only one? And if one, which one? Even rebuilt the A two-tooth has to be set up properly.

Both boxes, in two differant vehicles, Two much freeplay in straight ahead position,
A longer drag link would bring no free play in straigh ahead postion instead of at 11 oclock, Hence on slightly bumpy road vehicle moves about . but withslight turning as in going around cure is great as no free play.

Derek,
JUST THINKING, an adjustable drag link would "tune" it in easily. MAYBE, just shorten a tie rod to use as a drag link??? Bill W.

I would start by following the Service Bulletins exactly for the original A box. Get the steering centered and the free play out when the steering wheel if right in the center position. One adjustment affect the others and you may have to go through the process a couple times it really get it right.

I haven't messed with the F-100 for many years, so won't advise on that one.
