I am trying to find out if a 30/31 coupe seat bottom has a piece of wood on the bottom that the pins on the seat frame fit into, or do the pins just go up into the springs?
Thanks Bob |

Thanks to both reply's! For the 1930 seat is that a full wood bottom or just 2 small wood pieces for the pins?

Yes but the actual wood frame has two holes that accept the pins from the bottom of the metal frame.

I had a cabinet maker do the Mortise and tenon work one one frame, I did the other myself. I used Ash but I have since learned that the originals were Oak. I believe lumber from an Oak skid would work or scrap flooring. Skid lumber would require planing. I screwed and glued mine. Terry |

The picture helped explain how things were made. How is the wood seat frame attached to the springs?

Bob there are small metal clips that wrap around the edge of the spring and then are screwed into the wood. I made mine out of some half inch wide metal strips about 2 inches long.
