Default I can't find the tread on Pinto transmissions.

I'm sure I saw it on here and not the HAMB but have had no luck with the search.

My little P/U has a horrible noise in second and down shift from third to second , I have to almost stop. And yes I know how to double clutch.

SO, if I have to pull the tranny out, why not " purist close your eyes" update it. In my searches was the F150 OD tranny swap but I do not want to modify the drive shaft, trailing arms and everything else. I would prefer to keep the integrity of the pick-up and get this one rebuilt. I was thinking it said the Pinto would fit.

Thank you, just trying to enjoy my nice as stock as can be little truck

I've heard of a Pinto engine in A's but not the transmission.

Would seem to be a better solution would be to properly restore the original Model A transmission.

Not too difficult and not too expensive.

This sounds like you are a perfect candidate for the Mitchell transmission. Not the Overdrive, but the Model A case with all new synchromesh gears inside.

Haven't heard of using a Pinto tranny, except behind a Pinto engine.

Find a 32-39 tranny, put 39-48 gears and synchros in it and get Cling's kit to convert, it becomes "bolt" in mod.

Funny, I cannot imagine using anything from this in a Model A...

I'll do a search on the Mitchel transmission. I don't think I dreamed it but it could of been on another website.

Thanks for the info, like I said, I don't want to cut anything up in my little truck.

I and my wife each had pinto's, over 150 k on both when each was sold to others, no problems except one timing belt broke.

This one mentioned the engine and tranny from a Pinto but no other details,
