Lonely Canadian head needs a mate, and ID.
I bought a single, centre water out let 24 stud Canadian aluminium head today and I would like to know if anyone can make sense of the numbers and if anyone has a single head I could buy to make a set for my marine conversion.
Has Made in Canada on it.... Number C7RA-6050-B on the top and this number stamped near the water neck 2251247 and an "M" on the right hand end. |

C7RA is likely for a 1947 commercial pickup. There are some 7RA numbers on US bonus built trucks but they were for the first of the bonus built engine components that went into the 1948 F1 pickups. 8RT was 1948 design V8 truck designation but it is in the 8BA era. Ford of Canada just plain did things differently.

Good news i have the exact same head same part numbers and similar condition the water outlet is not damaged any the four spark plugs are still installed. Guess its a male. Also in need of a mate. Its available if interested send me a personal message.

I'll have to check my "inventory": but seem to recall one aluminum head with 6050 and one with 6049. But not sure without looking.

I have a set of Made in Canada heads aluminum I have owned for over 45 years came from Burnett’s in Ashburton NZ 59 AB style part numbers on them are
C91A-6050-B2 C91A-6049-B2 Have big chambers |

I've got one C7RA and one C99A 6050, both aluminum. I checked the Ford of Canada catalogue and they have some good information there if this picture is big enough to read. Sorry, upside down. These I phone pictures I never know how they are going to post.

Hi; I sold my Canadian '40 and the head part nos were different lft to right cause the temp sender ports were drilled and taped just for each side. Not the double drilled ports commonly found. Newc

So the operative line from that link is......
"C7ra Canadian (real, not Weiand cheater) 69.5-70, 6.8" Will that not a super low compression head, so that's a good start. Bump that up a little more with the big bore pistons (.125 over takes it to 7.34:1) and a mild head skim after checking all clearances and I should have a nice little bit more bang from compression and cubic inshes. I am looking at a slightly hotter cam, nothing at all silly. Port clean up. Dual, twin throat Holley 94 carbs, better 12v ignition hidden inside the divers helmet dizzy... engine balance... should be a sweet boat motor. Last edited by gavinnz; 04-17-2019 at 05:01 AM. |

If you're going to "skim" the heads, do a little more work and get them so the clearance over the piston is .045-.055" for optimum "squish". In my opinion, it's the single most effective thing you can do to enhance flathead performance. There are plenty of posts here and on the H.A.M.B. on what to do and how to do it.
When milling heads, it's not important on how much you take off, but what the resulting clearance is. |

My 47 Monarch has the C7RA marking on the heads, I think they were made in Canada
