First time! A FORMER supercharged [f code] Fairlane at a local show, had the SPECIAL V8 emblem on its glove box.! And it was an Original f code car. When found tho, the engine was a SIX. 312 was gone. I've seen the '58 Interceptor emblems, but this was a first '57 Supercharged car for me. Originally a loaded Fairlane hardtop demonstrator car. I assume the data plate and the frame number said it was a "F" car ?

As often as I’ve seen Frank’s F code Bird or Skyliner, I’ve never looked for an emblem. Anyone got a picture? I didn’t find one with a search.

Originally Ford planned to have a glove box emblem for each engine displacement in the '57 lineup. That plan was quickly abandoned, however, so that only cars assembled by October of '56 had them. Here is each emblem pictured from top down for the 312, 292, 272, and 223 engines respectively. The 312 emblem was used on any car with that displacement, without regard for whether it was a D-code E-code or F-code.

My family had a '58 Fairlane 500 4 door with the 352/300hp engine. I remember the emblem on the dash that said INTERSEPTOR. I don't remember the "special", but it's been a long time.

For sure, very interesting too. I've seen most but not all of them over the years. Noting they were meant for the '57s and the interceptor one for the '58s, I have one like the 3rd one down on my '56 which originally had a 312 in it. Thanks for the info, I'm sharing.

These emblems are scarce today but can be found occasionally. Here's one I added to my '57 E-code Club Sedan, which being a January '57 car did not have one from the factory.

re: Your 56 had the emblem on the glove-box door and not the fenders?
This was on the fenders of mine when I got it in '68. But goofy things can happen over the years. TBird_emblem-removebg-preview-removebg-preview.jpg |

Nah, you're good.
The T-BIRD EMBLEM (on the fender) was calling out the 292 - 1955 (and later 312 - 1956), the V8 called out the 272 and the I6 called out the 223. |

Just a month or so ago, I found this '56 2door post gem rusting in peace at a nearby junkyard, it was a severe burn victim from decades ago. It has a 223 in it but I don't recollect it having have badging on the fenders. |
