Default 2nd gear and the synchro

Any tricks when brass synchro is on 2nd gear with a small gap. The brass is new from Vanpelts and it's on a 24 tooth 2nd gear.

You better post more information --> what year trans, what year main-shaft, what gearset and some good pictures. You've not given us enough to go on.

If you're talking about the gap between the teeth on the brass blocking ring and the small teeth on the gear, there is supposed to be a gap. Here is a YouTube video, its not an Early Ford trans but concept is the same.

What is the minimum gap between the brass synchronized and second gear. I have 42 thousands is that enough. Some mentioned use a dime a dime is 45 thousands.

The dime I just mic'd is .052 can't imagine .010 being THAT critical

I do check the fit of the 81A synchro ring on both the input and 2nd gear. Besides checking the gap also be sure the ring fits squarely on the taper, I find numerous rings which “rock back and forth” when fitted to the gear taper. Different rings fit differently!
Good luck.
