Just curious...has anyone ceramic coated a car with a stock (meaning factory) paint job?

I use the Griots Ceramic Spray on everything else...thinking about getting the car detailed/ceramic once it's back from the shop for it's spring debut (only took 30 years)...wasn't sure if there was anything negative concerning the paint

All the advertisements I see for this new Ceramic wax/coating, talks about "beading action" of water on the paint. A few years ago, the latest and greatest wax promoted "sheeting action" of the water to prevent the beading of water to prevent water spots. What's different now.

The spray on stuff that I use (Griots) is supposed to last about 3 mos...the product that is applied with an applicator 5-7 years

Google - "Most professional detailers swear by using a polishing compound and orbital polishers as the best way to remove a newer ceramic coating"
Doing a quick search I don't think that is an issue...the benefit of protecting the paint far outweighs it...many folks send their new cars right from the dealer to the detailer to be paint corrected and ceramic coated...I just haven't seen anything with older cars that don't have a modern clearcoat

I did some serious checking on the internet, and it seems, that for us guys who have "ordinary" cars, this is good stuff.
I am going to try it. Last edited by tubman; 03-03-2022 at 10:28 PM. Reason: Correct spelling |

Yes Sir that’s it…for clear coated cars it works great…I use a clay mit before I apply it…I need to do more research on non-clear coated cars…my ‘50 will only see sunny days so the set it and forget it aspect of the 5 year product is appealing

I used Meguiers ceramic wax on my Rouge 53 Lincoln and now it glows like it did in 1953.
