How easy is it to convert these to/from a road car? Running boards are cut it seems, and missing rear fenders. How how are these kits worth alone?

Some of these are built for full time snowmobile use only. Others like mine can be converted from truck to snowmobile in just a few hours. Here is a few pics of the truck as It was when I bought it, and one after I did some restoration.
Someone put a lot of money and work into this truck years ago. The cab was built from solid maple and formed to closely match the shape of the original cab. The guide wheels for the tracks just bolt onto the rear axle and mount with leaf springs under the doors. I don't know where the smaller wheels come from as most I see are all wheels are of the same size. This truck came from the state of Maine.

looks like this was meant to be a full time conversion. Notice how they modified the front door to accommodate the length of the track. Also the front axle was completely removed, rather than mounting the skids on the spindles. neat conversion

I think the axle is still there. You can see it under the bumper (and the nuts on the spring perches)
