Default evapo rust and WD-40

I read on this forum that if a rattle paint can stopped working you can spray WD-40 into the can and it will continue to work until empty. What is the relationship between WD-40 and paint. If I have WD-40 on a part and then paint it will the paint stick to the surface or is there a problem with doing this?
The same question is with the evapo-rust, will it interfere with the paint after an evapo-rust treatment or is it OK to paint over a treated part? Jack
