Default Would a 1929 station wagon be too heavy to make a 354 R&P worth having?

I recently purchased an unrestored 1929 Ford station wagon. I plan on restoring the running gear, but keeping the current body patina.
Should I consider installing a 354 R&P when rebuildingbthevrear end?
My Southern California area is a pretty flat land. The motor currently has a stock head. Would the heavy weight of the car make the 354 R&P a bad idea?

Yes, I have installed several 3.54 in Fordors, and they do well. Generally these Fordors have high compression heads and a decent camshaft in them, and do well even in the mountains around here.

Hey Neil I think you should go ahead and put those gears in it since it's relatively flat where you live. That should be a good set up.

A friend with a 30 Fordor,(heavy car)was debating the same thing. He just wanted to drop his RPM's a little.I had installed a set in a rear end to go in my pickup, and it was just leaning on my cellar wall.I told him to pop that rear in,and if it didn't work out just change it back.A week later I saw the rear end back in my cellar.I called him and asked how it went.He said he put the rear in,drove it for less than an hour, and pulled it back out.He brought it back to me,went home and installed the new gears in his.He said a trip to the store told him everything he needed to know.I have a 31 coupe with 3.54's and a Mitchell, works fine.I have two sets of 3.27 gears still in the boxes, and I hem and haw about using them. The only way I'm going to find if I like them or not is to install them.If I don't like them I can just take them back out.

I went with a Mitchell to give some gear splits and ability to do a little freeway. I wouldn’t change that decision. I do have a high compression head and counterbalanced crank among some other internal mods. Stock cam, carb, and distributor. Original rust and termites.
