Default Intake manifold dowel pins

My 37 221 block needs dowel pins for intake manifold as they are missing. Tried to remove some from another old block by heating them up, etc. and I don't think these are going to come out. Can I skip using these or are they available from a vendor?

Try hitting them on the side with a punch that's a bit softer than the pin...
Increase force until vise grips will pull them...

Unless they are a weird size like Ford sometimes does try McMaster-Carr, they have almost any size dowel pin you can want.

By my digital calipers they look about .3660" in diameter. Searching online for something from another application without luck so far.

Cut a section out of the smooth part of a 3/8 bolt and see if it fits snug in the hole. Not sure. Walt

Just measured the bell housing dowels and are the same size. They are also missing from my rebuild block so I will need four of these, two for the intake and two more for the bell housing.

C&G has them - Part Number 18-6397 > http://cgfordparts.com/ufolder/cgcat...&sp=Search+%23

You are correct "two for the intake and two more for the bell housing."

It looks like you found new dowels but in the future, if you need to pull dowels and don't have a slide hammer with a collet attachment, It takes 2 people, 2 medium size hammers and 2 medium size cold chisels. Set a chisel on surface on each side of the dowel. Both guys hit the chisels as close to the same time as possible, LIGHTLY, lightly that is. Keep tapping and the dowel will rise right out. Clean off the dink marks and you can reuse it.

Did they do away with them on the 49-53 engines? Perhaps they are not needed.

Unless you are port matching, I don't see the need for them. As mentioned, they did away with them on the 8BA's. Definetly need them on the bellhousing.
