Default Engine appraisal?

I have a 1929 Ford Model A and I was wondering how much the engine could sell for, it has 7,886.8 miles on the engine it is all original and will run but hasn't in a few years but I crank it as much as I should.

Too many variables. I assume the miles means miles on the rebuild but who did the rebuild? Any idea what is inside, how much is it bored and how much is the crank turned?Where are you located? You should start it to allow the person considering buying it to run a compression test and listen to it run. Try a detailed ad with pictures in the "For Sale" section.

If I needed an engine and stopped by your house to look at this one without being able to hear it run and not knowing who rebuilt it or what was inside I would offer you $200 assuming all the bolt on stuff was there, it could be turned over and looked reasonably clean. I would assume I was buying a "pig in a poke" and hope to get lucky.

Like Charlie says, most buyers assume the worst. You might find a buyer that is willing to pay more if you let him disassemble it before paying.

without it running................ 500.

get it running and up to 1000. provided you can prove the low mileage.

I think they call these engines "cores." Let the buyer see/hear it running then sell it.

Not much, in MHOP with out seeing the engines insides it is just a used engine.
Lots of not so good Model A engines out there.
