1937 Ford V8 85 coil

I am looking for a stock coil & condensor for my 37 Ford. I see many 1936 coils on ebay, but no 1937 ones. Are they the same? Did they use a ballast resistor in 1937 and if so, was it internal?

Stock '37 coils are not the same as '36. There was no internal ballast resistor in a stock '37 coil. That ballast resistor in '37 was located behind the dash on the internal side of the firewall. Any original coil you find (NOS or used) would be suspect for shorted windings when in use under heated conditions. I believe your best bet would be to find an original '37 coil and have it rewound by Skip Haney in FL. If interested, I have some original used '37 coils that I am willing to sell.
