29/29 open car upholstery clips

I have an upholstery kit from LeBaron Bonney that has plastic or nylon clips to secure the ring shank nails used to install the door panels. The doors originally had metal clips that protruded much less from the inner door panel when installed. The height of the non-metallic clips are probably about 4 times higher than the metal clips. I don't have enough of the metal clips, so I will need to use the non-metallic clips in the LB kit. What I am concerned about is will the non-metallic clips show once the door panels have been installed - i.e. the door panels sticking out more from the inner door panel. If anyone had installed open car door panels or I believe CCPU's use the same clips as open cars, had any problem with the non-metallic clip showing.
