Default my 94 stumbles when excelerating

Before I rebuilt my engine my 94 worked flawless for years. while rebuilding my engine I added a max 1 cam and had to go from 0.40 to 0.80 over, besides those changes everything is the same. Do you think its a possibility that my carb is jetted to small? at first I thought I had a bad power valve, changed it and no difference, messed around with timing and checked for vacuum leaks, still no different. any thoughts on this??
Thanks
Felix

I'm sure you peeked into the throat (with engine off) to determine the acc pump squirters are squirting. Anyway aside from the obvious make sure the little ball check
at the bottom of the acc pump well is free. As you know the ball lifts off its seat
when the pump is on the up stroke allowing fuel to be pulled into the well. The ball
must seat when the acc pump goes down so fuel is blocked from returning to the
bowl. Next least obvious is the plunger beneath the squirter it must seat nice and clean or you'll get a lag. On both these items I always give the ball and the plunger
a light tap using a TINY hammer and small diameter punch. After the punch thing I
always flip the carb over to be sure the ball and plunger are free and not jammed.
A tiny piece of crud will mess things up in a hurry. In all cases but racing the middle
hole on the throttle arm should deliver all the juice you'll need.
Too small jets will cause the engine to surge at speed. #51 jets should be
fine, if want to let the dogs out try #53's but I would'nt.
Check the float level....my best results are 1.350 from the top of the float to the gasket surface of the air horn with horn inverted. Lowering the float could prevent
adequate fuel from being drawn into the acc pump well. Float drop should be 1/8 to 3/16.

Felix, adding a carburetor should cure that.

Charlie has built a carburetor for me and it is a beautiful thing!! He has a complete understanding of how they operate throughout the entire spectrum, and his advice here should be heeded....

Are Holley jets interchangeable? Or are the 94's an animal of their own?

Yes. Available at some, if not all NAPAs.

Felix,
Any Hot Rod shop that handles Holley carbs can get jets in any size. As Owen
mentioned modern Holley jets are the same as yours.

Ok thanks! We carry all the Holley jets at the Speed Shop, I will find out what size is currently in my carb first.
