The new shaft looks great, what a relief. (pun intended)

The gear on the solid shaft is absolutely worn out.
I would also look at the bushings in the pump housing. May be its time for a new pump?

My opinion,

New bushings, driven gear and relieved shaft should do wonders for this pump. Sad as it was before, it did still pump oil, just not as much as I would have liked. So, with these new parts, I should be even more happy!

Hi Marshall!
These slides are a bit late in posting, but I thought I would post for others to learn what you are going through. Also, I added a slide about the hole in the front wall of the valve chamber which could have been the cause of a low oil level in the valve chamber.

Theoretically that model B. oil pump shaft should be worth a slight horsepower increase in a model A. due to the less pumping restrictions!!!

I think it's generally a bad idea to put plastic things near powerful heat sources so I would rather pick the spot where Werner put the hose.

I just got things back together today after being sick with a bad cold for the past week. I tested the reassembled pump with a drill to prime it and check the flow. It seems o.k. and stronger than before. I started the engine a little while ago and everything seems fine so far. No suspicious noise from lack of oil. There's a problem with mismatched manifolds that is causing an intake leak, so I can't be sure how complete my repair is. I blew out all the passageways in the valve chamber and they were clear. So, with a positive priming and flow, I'm relying upon the oil pump repair being successful. 'Gotta be better than it was before!
