The issues with the reproductions, for me, are the spring tension and the rubber diaphragms are not ethanol resistant. The ethanol resistance is a very important thing. If you contact any of the two folks I mentioned, they will gladly provide you with what you need, at reasonable cost. PM me if you want contact information.
Anytime you can obtain original Ford parts that are in good condition or that can be rebuilt, you are better off and it's money well spent. Experience is the best educator.
P.S I see you are located not far from Auburn Indiana. Are you planning on attending the Early Ford V8 Club meet there this August? I think you will enjoy it and it's a short distance for you.
