Buyer's 'penalties' are a turn off when it comes to auctions at least for me. I never bother with an auction that charges that. To me it's a big rip-off. Throw 6% or so on top of the 10% sometimes 20% the auctioneer is getting,,, yeah right.
At the Iowa Gas petroliana auction in August they charge a buyer's fee plus Ia. state sales tax. Haven't been back there in almost 15 years won't waste my time.
Local auctioneer that goes to our church told me that Illinois proposed a sales tax a number of years ago for items sold at auction and that went down in a big ball of flame, crashed and burned. Never brought up again.At least that was one good thing that came out of Springfield
