There is a product modelers use to simulate chrome which is essentially a rub on foil. Rub it in place, then trim with a very sharp exacto blade. Used to be called RealMetal foil. That could solve your cowl band issue.

Thanks I'll check that out. I think I'll wait awhile until the paint is fully cured then try it. I also have a fine point silver paint Sharpie.
