Re: 1940 Ford Drag Link Adjustment
The right end of the drag link was internally threaded to accept an adjustable tie rod end. A slit at this end of the tube allowed the threaded portion to be “crushed” upon the threads when the...

Re: 1940 Ford Drag Link Adjustment
as has been mentioned, the drag link adjusts the orientation of the steering wheel.
There is one adjustable end at the pitman arm. The drag link is rather straight.
The toe-in is adjusted via the...

Re: Set of 4 shocks and arms need info
Only if they are 2 7/8" diameter bodies. If they are 3 1/4", nearly worthless.
I had recently sold a pair of NOF front shocks, concourse correct, in the boxes for $250.
This stuff is losing value...

Re: Generator and Fan
I'm guessing you are getting your information from a Ford parts book. Am I correct?
If you are, you must keep in mind, the parts listed are for service and in many cases Ford "made do" with what...

Re: Generator and Fan
Why would a 60HP have a smaller pulley than the 85HP? Both have identical 6v electrical systems and both need to charge at the same rate.
In 1940 there were two different pulleys. The first (early)...

Re: Opinion needed on fuel pumps
My '36 roadster sits for up to eight weeks without starting during the winter months. The car is 100% stock.
I pull the choke, hit the starter, pump the gas pedal maybe two or three times, hit the...

Re: Set of 4 shocks and arms need info
They appear to be front shocks from a 1940 Ford passenger car. Body diameter?
The arms most certainly appear to have been heavily modified. Are the balls welded to the arms?

Re: 1937 ford jack
Yes, even though difficult to believe. I'd be willing to bet he would make this "right" with you in a heartbeat.
Lin is one heck of a good guy.

Re: 1937 ford jack
Tony, it's early all right. Early 1946. Part #51a-17080-a4
If Lin (spelled L I N) sold it to you there was a mistake made. Highly unlike Lin as he is one sharp "tool".

Re: 1937 ford jack
Pete, your suspicion is correct. the jack is 1946. The Ford script bag was introduced in mid 1940 production.

Re: 1937 ford jack
Well, some are and some are not.
The Ford script bag was issued many years later so that's certainly not correct.
The jack is 1946 and is actually kinda rare.

Re: What size battery, Amos, CCA, CA
I'm with Denny on this. An Optima can be mounted beneath the floor without modifications. It can be mounted at an angle.
I did this recently in a '34 as well as a '36.
They do last for many years...
