What are these striker plates?

I think they’re Ford, but I don’t know. Any ideas? I don’t recall seeing one with a roller like that.

Re: Little Dearborn's New Location

That was the most fascinating parts store I've ever been in. Roger is incredibly knowledgeable on parts, too. And also one of the most honest people I've done business with.

I lost my job last...

Re: Little Dearborn's New Location

have they torn the old building down yet? I had heard the building was already sold at the end of last year and the developer was itching to get busy with the wrecking ball.

It's a shame, that's...

Difference between types of piston rings

Two questions, basically

What is the difference between steel section and expander type piston rings

What is the difference between rings for steel pistons only, rings for aluminum pistons...

Re: why did they do this ???

You must be the guy from Wisconsin that Tim kept talking about (nothing bad, just talking, you know Tim - he will talk your ear off).

I noticed that too - boxes of what appear to be NOS parts,...

Re: Evapo Rust vs Apple Cider Vinegar

It all has to do with the way you set it up. Electrolysis is used to derust iron cannon quite successfully. It's a standard method for conservation of iron objects from salt water.

It's more or...

Re: 01Y-4209-B with a copper ring gear?

Interesting. Learn something new every day.

I'll have to inform Mrs69 that I'm not the know-it-all she likes to say I am :D

Re: Craftsman tools being sold

Sears lost the battle to Wal Mart a generation ago. There are new and better ways of running a department store and Sears was caught unaware, still sticking to the business model that made them a...

Re: 01Y-4209-B with a copper ring gear?

Didn't think to check that. The magnet sticks, but it's definitely a cupreous metal (has green corrosion in places), which I guess means it's plated. Anyone heard of that?

Re: Evapo Rust vs Apple Cider Vinegar

There are several ways I've used to remove rust.

Electrolysis works great. I used that based on my previous occupation dealing with historical objects from under water. It works great but needs...

01Y-4209-B with a copper ring gear?

I found this in a batch of parts from Little Dearborn.

4.85 ratio, part number says it's a 40-52 122" wb 3/4 and 1 ton truck

That's not the issue, though. It has a steel pinion but what looks...

Re: What are these strange Pistons?

Interesting. I would have bet someone else's reputation that they weren't Ford parts :D

They sound cool when you tap them together. Maybe they would make a nice wind chime :)

Thanks for the...

What are these strange Pistons?

I've got 35 of them, obviously used, in a box. One piston has 99A-6108 written on an attached tag. They do match the dimensions for a 3 3/16 bore engine and if I am correct that part number is for a...

Re: A couple of strange parts, any idea what they might be?

First one looks like a 1952 truck inner fender inspection pan, and like a couple said the third one is part of the radiator area on a 52-53. Still scratching my head on #2 but I think I'll figure it...

A couple of strange parts, any idea what they might be?

They came with a bunch of 37-40 and shoebox parts. The first one has the part number 7C-1611 but I can't find anything. The second and third, no part numbers. The third looks like a bumper filler...

Re: Cleaning rust from water jackets.

No, but it will turn white if it's not washed off. It should be dried quickly to avoid flash rust. If you dip and leave it to dry you get some limited protection from rerusting.
