When grinding cast steel gives orange sparks, cast iron gives red sparks. My guess would be cast steel. Most of Henry's brackets were steel forgings or castings.

12 volts needs less amperage to do the same job that's why the cables are smaller.
12 volts 250 amps is equal to 6 volt 500 amps.

When you double the voltage you only need half the amperage.

Do the ground cable and mount it by the drivers seat. If you put it in the hot cable everything before the switch is still hot.

I used the original connectors, no problem as long as they are in good shape.
The originals are better than the new ones. Use new copper washers.
