Re: Engine diagnosis?

First off don't start messing with anything you haven't changed. Like the timing. I would start with making sure fuel is getting to the cylinders. Start with easiest first. Is their sufficient fuel...

Re: Won't start

Have you checked your ground from the battery? You mention nothing works so it must be something in common with all the circuits like the main fuse coming off the battery, ignition switch or the...

Re: Are there PDF books by Les Andrews

And a trip down memory lane as you find previous smudges on certain pages. My manuals get so bad, it borderlines on ridiculous.

Re: Brake Light Switch Backwards

I cannot think of a scenario where it isn't the switch itself though I am not an electrical expert. Can you test e switch for resistance- zero when pedal is engaged, infinite when not depressed.

Electric speedometer

Is anyone using an electric speedometer that requires a speed sensor as opposed to GPS for calibrating? If so how did you go about this? Looking at an Autometer product.
Thanks

Re: Identify this alternator

Thanks for confirming what it is, and thanks for letting me know that the one wire is not stock from GM. Both will be good to know should this one fail.
Thanks,
Eric

Identify this alternator

Purchased a speedster based on 1931 Model A. It has been converted to 12 volts and this is the alternator. Is this a GM 10si? Just wanting to know for future reference. It is single wire and...

Re: differential oil

While on this subject, what weight oil do you all use in your rear end. I will be flushing and refilling mine this winter.

Re: Confused

Definitely sounds like you are starving for fuel. Float valve not opening? Vent in gas cap. When you say it fires right back up does it still run the same length of time? I cannot imagine anything...

Re: Having Fun With it?

Enjoy the challenges of rebuilding your Model A. Sometimes I wonder why we enjoy the headaches we create for ourselves trying to solve problems and make things work or fit.

Re: #1 plug question

Like the other said, but start with easiest first to rule out. Swap plug wires with one of the other cylinders. Inspect the Number one contact carefully. Play in the distributor shaft etc would seem...

Re: Interesting read in Hemmings about restoration costs.

I owned a body shop for five years doing mostly higher end paint on older sports cars like Triumphs, Mg's and 240z's etc. The amount of work preparing even a body in reasonably good shape for a near...

Re: Analyze this . . .

In my opinion, if its running well maybe leave well enough alone. That last plugs look like you could end up too lean in a heart beat if you start leaning out the fuel/air mixture. However my...

Re: engine misses

Best to try to eliminate electrical before you start changing carb settings. To determine if the miss is only with one cylinder try disconnecting a plug and running the motor to see if you detect a...

Re: Oil for model a+ t

I agree, if so many people are using so many different grades with positive results then I think what you use is less important than keep the level up and keeping it clean. No comparisons to today's...

Re: Roadster getting harder to start

I am no expert for sure, but could a leak at the intake make it harder to pull the gas mixture up?

Re: My 1st decent drive of Model A and discussion

Let others chime in as I am far from an expert on these cars. My dealings with older cars and motorcycles is inspect, replace/repair what you are not sure about. I feel your pain as I sink more and...
