Re: Driving AA vs A

Still looking for an AA and have driven a couple of them. How much different is the A pick-up? On a car chassis? More speed and better on a wider variety of road/traffic conditions? I have not found...

Re: AA Truck Worth

Would not mind hauling some mulch or making trips to the dump. However, my concern would be as Seaslug pointed out. All the "stuff that hold the rear end to the frame" may be worn out. How big a job...

Question Re: AA Truck Worth

Gosh... based on the condition of that one, 8K seems like a steel for the one I am looking at.

Re: AA Truck Worth

Seaslugs; Thanks for your help. You did not scare me away. Thinking I should hold off for now until I find something more road ready and I am not so stretch budget wise.

Re: AA Truck Worth

8G seems high to me to. I like it but the shimmy is an indication of obvious front end work needed. Perhaps the rear end needs some work as well. Certainly there has been no work done to this truck...

Re: AA Truck Worth

I don't see any signs of body repair short of paint. It is overall in decent shape and the various paint jobs are old. I don't mind a survivor and the engine sounds great. Cost to rebuild front end?...

AA Truck Worth

A difficult task is always putting a value on something. I have lost out on the last AA I was looking at. There is another "survivor" with a rebuilt engine (professionally done) for sale. It is a...

Re: AA Maintenance

Tom; My kids and I came across a 1929 Chevy 1.5 ton for sale while looking at this AA Ford. Too much money for our budget but in nice shape. Figured parts would be a little easier with the Ford.

Re: AA Maintenance

I cannot imagine going 35-40mph in this rig. Perhaps a fine tuned restored AA but I would think that would be pushing the safety of this 85 year old unrestored survivor of sorts. The brakes may need...

Re: AA Maintenance

Great idea Tom but I think a ride in the cab first might do the trick. Or sink the ship……...

Re: AA Maintenance

Thanks Farrell. I think it would be great fun so long as I can get my wife on board.

Carl: Thank you. It does not have a speedometer so I just shifted by the sound of the engine. I guess I would...

Re: AA Maintenance

Hi Bob;

I am not accustomed to driving these rigs so that is also something I will need to learn. No speedometer so just going by sound. Gear 1 feels like I need to shift immediately. Not sure of...

Re: AA Maintenance

No plans to restore the truck. This is for my kids and I. Have to convince my wife and permission to have it in the driveway. No barn or garage to put it in. Not sure what the brakes should feel like...

AA Maintenance

Looking at an AA truck. Starts, runs and drives. Not familiar with mechanical brakes but they seem to work. It is a greasy oily mess under the truck. Some under pan and transmission. An 85 year old...

Re: Driving AA vs A

Thanks for all the responses thus far. How about handling? The AA is obviously bigger and heavier. I guess I just need to go and drive each one. My concern is the roads. Backroads today are nothing...

Driving AA vs A

Contemplating an AA or A truck purchase. I have not driven either and would ask those of you who have experience with both share how each manages the hurried roads of today. No highways and assuming...
