Re: Hershey Haul
Yeah, Friday was strange with a lot of folks packing up before lunch and gone soon afterwards. I did the park side the bridge walking every row. Lots of interesting stuff there but literally too...

Re: Is this a standard 21" Model A wheel?
Bought one decent set up at Carlisle out of 9 wheels the guy had for $400 last year and one was bent when I got it on the car. Couple other bunches of rusty junk for $80+. Hershey '19 I didn't see...

Re: Is this a standard 21" Model A wheel?
Good 21" wheels are not cheap or plentiful. They rust in the tube around the rim edge and won't balance when full of rust. BTDT and have 5 or so bad ones and four OK ones on the car.

Re: I'm not a Model A person
Figure out if it's fuel or spark and troubleshoot the bad circuit. I'm going with fuel because that's about how long the carb bowl will run at idle before it starves for fuel. You got this.

Re: I'm not a Model A person
There's a learning curve that once you get over it becomes little of an issue. Maybe step back from it for a week or two and reassess. Purdy car and you'll enjoy it once you are comfortable with it.

Re: Added HP for 2nd carb and header?
To expand on what nkaminar said. This is the exhaust on my '29 speedster build. Eventually being fed by a blown B engine. @40" long primaries for @2800 RPM peak torque paired by firing order...

Re: Why so many upgrades??
Why so many upgrades? Because these cars were only state of the art for four years. Due to how fast the automotive world was developing they needed some help to stay competitive as daily drivers. ...

Re: High Compression Head Review
I was kind of surprised that while swapping the head I checked the valve travel on mine and most were @ .030" less than original from wear and lash. The seats and valves looked decent. The pistons...

Re: High Compression Head Review
Ron, one thing that hasn't been noted is that most efficiency improvements are leveraged by percentage, not outright HP. That's why the head works oh so much better with a B cam and manifold setup. ...

Mid-Atlantic pre-war swap meet is the Facebook group. Says they are over 60 vendors this year and they have picture of prior events.

Re: 6.1 Head / Carburetor Choice
FWIW it's pretty easy to make a new intake out of some mandrel bent header tubing. This is a B carb feeding a 6-1 head and wobbly piston A block more to help mock up the rest of the car than...

Yeah, mine should be set up with more front bias. I can grab a hand full of E Brake if things get too serious to balance the rears. :)

Used, mid 1950's or so are pretty indestructible. Or a newer Wilton industrial one. The rest are junk.

Re: help with Model A market values
I guess it's just how I value stuff. Everything I own is built to the standard that it's use dictates. Sounds kind of wonky but it's true. My 'A' started as a hot rod body stolen chassis and I'm...

Re: help with Model A market values
Anything should be worth the investment when it's finished, or at least somewhat close to it. Why spend $30k to restore a car worth maybe $10k after it sits a couple years? The vast majority of...
