Re: sleeved wheel cylinders

If they advertise them as stainless steel then they may just mean the bore being stainless to prevent rust from seizing the cylinder. This is an interesting thread due to the safety factor and that...

Re: In search of correct Stainless Steel hardware

Thread sealer will reduce leakage. More importantly I believe those threads are an interference fit. Do you want SS so they look shiny. Original were painted black.

Re: overdrive transmissions

The solenoids are not the same for the convertible.
they sort of are but the hex needs to be adjusted and the cover is specific so the weep hole to expel moisture is at the bottom. I think 49 50...

Re: Not stictly flathead but handy

Hudson belting is down the street from where I grew up. Looking for some belts for a valve grinder and sure enough they are still in business and advertising any of your belt needs from conventional...

Re: 8 volt question

The 8 volt battery in my opinion is not a very good idea. As mentioned, if you have everything fixed 6 volts will do everything you need. It is hard enough to find 6 volt battery chargers and I've...

Re: Help installing valves

They may be better now but I've had to sand down the rubber on the intake seals to get them to fit. A little wd40 does not hurt either. As Mac said the clips may be tight but you may as well make...

Re: Master Cylinder Gift Horse

There will just be a bit more travel before the shoes tighten up on the drums. Like a hydraulic jack, once it has pressure on it every movement is exerting pressure. I wonder if hudson wheel...

Re: trip in the east and canada

map out your route and where you will be stopping. Do a search for car shows and swp meets in that area. You'll probably do ok no matter what but if you ask here about specific shows you may get...

Re: 49-51 Ford Convertible Model O.D. Solenoid

The solenoid is also specific to a convertible. The shaft needs to be rotated one flat if I remember correctly or it might just be different. Either way a regular one will not just bolt up. There...

Re: 1950 Car Permanently Lubricated/Sealed Bearings

I just did one on a 20 ton harbor freight press. I cut both the bearing and the retainer ring off with a cutoff wheel. Cut almost through and break off the rest with a chisel. They pressed on easy...

Re: Best coil to use with a petronix ign

I used the one pertronix recommended as my concern was to not overload their unit. I'm running a stock motor so no big deal about needing a huge spark.

Re: 51 Merc-O-Matic

I took an old driveshaft yoke and cut it off. Welded a plate on it to keep the oil from coming out of the back of the trans. You might be able to get away with an old yoke but this was my...
