The engine is stock but a strongly rebuilt runner. Regardless, the governor is for looks. It's a correct (and NOS) piece for 1939. I removed the throttle plates from it so it is not...

The '40 - 48 type filter mounts on the cylinder head. It does an okay job of filtering, at best. Purolator #P-34, Wix #51006, Fram #C4, AC # P209, Ford #7HA6731, Motorcraft #FL25.

You need to provide more information. Are you simply interested in installing any filter or the correct filter?
The filter housing that was introduced in 1940 and utilized through '48 will...

The "element" is integral of the housing in '39. See my picture post earlier...

Authentic 1939 oil filters are rare. The correct hoses, bracket(s) and the fittings are especially rare.
