Re: plating

Ditto on Craig. Nice guy, knows Model A's, and charges very fair prices for great work.

Re: ground fault on upper distributor plate

Sometimes plates have a post that is loose, and I don't use them. I have seen it happen on repros like you have, another reason why I don't use them. The post could also be shorting out to the plate...

Re: 3031 oil pan color?

Everything was painted individually after machining and before being assembled. That is why none of the fasteners are painted.

Re: Question about the ignition coil

I think your coil is bad, even if it is new.

Re: Water in oil/engine

I would be concerned about a cracked block or maybe head with that amount of water.

Re: Rocky mountain under drive ? what is it ?

The guy was sort of right. That actually was made for a TT truck - read this thread.

Re: Piston size

It may or may not be.

I know Hudsons in the 30s and 40s and other cars throughout the years had markings on the top of the pistons. Most of the times it is a manufacturing item, like a letter...

Re: Starter Switch Alignment

The strip on the reproduction switches is not very springy unlike the originals, so it bends way too easy. Like Bob said, the repro one is made of copper. Originals I think were some kind of copper...

I just replaced mine with a new set of goodyear bias tires from coker. They feel great and look great.

Re: Manifold heater question(s)

New condensers that are sold by the parts houses are much better than what has been available in the past. They stand up to heat much better, so heat related failures are not an issue no more.

Re: New Engine Oil Change

Then it is a deal. I have retorqued the head already but it would not hurt to check it again just to make sure everything is right. The thing runs beautifully!

New Engine Oil Change

I have a recently rebuilt engine in my car that probably has about 150 miles on it so far. Should I change the oil soon to flush out any metal or debris or wait until the regular interval?

Re: Poor quality transmission roller bearings

I thought I had the new bad bearings but after some inspection, they were good quality. The ends were all closed off and nothing was really loose. A lot like the originals. Brattons has good ones I...

Re: MARC Technical Questions

I agree with you on that whenever a car is sitting for over 15 years, you should probably pop the pan off and clean everything or at the very least check and make sure there is no sludge. I will say...

Re: Will turn over but won't start

The lower plate wire could possibly be shorting out against the side of the housing if not installed correctly. It is also possible that the lower plate lug is bent and shorting against the housing...
