Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

The lack of the items David describes plus the generally excellent condition of the boards would suggest to me that they are not the originals. Remaining original boards are pretty knocked about by...

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Nice job, Chris. The boards look great!

Re the jam nuts. It's good practice to have one in there. Nothing would come undone without one, but imagine a vehicle in regular use, vibration while...

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

I used a locally sourced ivory woodstain on my home made boards for my 32 and they came out great. DavidG mentioned that was what he used and I can second the recommendation.

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

It is possible to reduce end float by building up the babbitt. I just did it on one of my engines. But I don't know how it would be done on a babbitted motor rather than an insert bearing motor like...

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Hi Chris.
May I suggest that it might be an idea to remake the alternator bracket in heavier material?
It looks a bit weedy from my side of the monitor all these miles away.
All the best.

Chris.
You can't take the pulley off. You will need to raise the motor to slip the belt in, or remove the U bolts.
I have no 4 cylinder experience, but am just speaking in general terms. As built,...

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

I think it is easy to over think these repairs. This is a non pressurised system. Give it your best shot. If a small leak remains, it ought to be able to be dealt with with jb weld type material...
