Re: 1941 pickup with '40 deluxe dash

The pickups never came with a passenger car dash. There may be some indication that some late '41 pickups could have came with the column shift.

Re: 1935 Luggage Rack

Seems we all learn something every day about these old ford V-8's.

Re: Drake Sale:

It's always been very simple to me. If something is on "back order" with no date when it will become available, I move on to another supplier or retailer. This is a hobby and why get upset when...

Re: Maiden voyage accomplished!

Mike, stop by the booth at Portland and I'll give you a '40 World's Fair decal for the quarter window.

Re: 1935 Radio Mounting

The bolt length looks right to me. It's possible that your firewall insulator has compressed more than normal due to it's age.

You'll also need the pickup/truck oil pan.

Re: Babbitt service needed!

If you are a V-8 Club member use your roster and call Mark Strohecker , Mark Norell. or Dick Falk. All live in the bay area.

Re: 6 Volt dim headlights

Dan, first check all your grounds. There is a ground that goes from the headlight plug to the headlight bucket. Make sure it's a good clean ground. As a test also run a ground from the bucket to the...

Re: What year is this Pickup 40-47 ?

Interesting on the frame #. My '41 had the frame ID number start with 18-*******, but had the deep crossmember. The fuel line pulled out of the passenger side of the tank. The original ownership...

Re: Drake Sale:

A very accurate assessment Dave. Going to a V-8 National Meet is a good indication of what is happening. Lots of old Dearborn type cars, but very few if any fresh restorations. As things stop selling...

Re: What year is this Pickup 40-47 ?

There's a big difference in the frames between '41 and '42-47. Also a big difference in the front end sheetmetal. The '41 front end looks more like a '40 front end. '41 was the last year for the...

Re: 32 Pa. LicenPlates now legal on my 32 now

If somebody had the money to take them to court they might win based on the fact the Constitution forbids ex post facto laws.

Re: 32 Pa. LicenPlates now legal on my 32 now

Good old California charges you every year to have year of manufacture plates on your car. You pay the annual fee based on value of the car and then an extra fee to have the YOM plate.

Re: Vintique Auto Parts

Vintique may be the only game in town as they supply most of the V-8 vendors. I think Restoration Specialties has some of the stuff to do the glass channels , etc. but they do not sell kits to my...

Re: What did I just buy ?

The 48 and later F-1 series pickups had the frame # on top of the right frame rail near the front crossmember if that helps. I would think the bigger trucks would have it in the same place.

Re: '32 model 18 GAS CAP....

Napa Auto Parts have a cap that fits for about $8.00, Non locking cap , but it does the job. I have some NOSR caps that are non locking , but look like originals for $12 plus shipping if interested....

Re: Early speedometer with later transmission

The early cable will go right on the turbo 350 bullet. Why won't the cable go onto the '50 transmission? Most of those speedo gears and adapters are the same.

Re: New to me 1936 5 window coupe

For you two "newbies" to the V-8 and '36 world you might want to purchase the Early Ford V-8 Club's 1935-36 Ford book. Lots of great information on your cars. You might want to also join the Early...

Re: New to me 1936 5 window coupe

Nice find. I second Mike's suggestion about moving those brake lines. They don't belong under the frame.

Re: Interest in new restoration project thread?

I used the EMS pan on a '37 and it is a good starting point. It does take some maneuvering to get it to fit. The lip for the rubber seal is definitely too wide and will need trimming. Unless they...
