Sorry, I did forget to mention my battery and Model A starter are both 6 volt.
Now that you mention it, the Model B starter I have came from an older gentleman who might have had it...

The best repair IMO is to use this fine strand silicone wire to replace the wire on the lower plate - much more flexible and forgiving. I've used this wire with great success.

I also suspect since it's a delivery vehicle the driver would enter the cab through a doorway on the passenger side.

I don't know if it applies to "B" cams, but Les Andrews' book calls for .013" for intake valves and .015" for exhaust ford Model A cams. Maybe others here on the Barn will chime in.
