Weber carburetor & fuel pressure question.
I'm starting to work on a car for a club member that has a Weber two barrel carburetor. It has a Holley inline fuel pump that from what I can find operates between 1.5 psi and 4 psi.
Is this range...

Re: transmission vent?
You'll probably need to remove your floor board as the hole is on the back side of the tower about even with the middle of the board. Hole is about the diameter of a ball point pen refill tube.

Re: Fans
I believe that most engines for binders that used the Model A engines came with the 4 blade fans.

Having several sets of eyes watching from different angles to keep it square works well.

Re: radiator splashing
Rule out a head gasket leak by testing for combustion gasses in the cooling system.
An auto parts store should have a test kit or drop by your local mechanic and have them test it.
Have you...

Re: Block Restamp
Don’t be a sissy… swing the hammer with an attitude.
Trying to re-stamp a number that is too light is not what you want to be doing.

Re: Batteries completely discharging
Disconnect the negative cable from the battery and clip a bulb type test light to the battery cable and the other end to the battery. If the bulb lights you have a short somewhere in the system.

Re: Distributor Cap Advance Lever Slot
My thought is that the slot is not a stop but indicates the limits of the full range of the spark advance lever.
Most likely if you have a two tooth steering column the column will need to be...

Re: How to rig temp fuel delivery
Also I've found that in my experience that Model A's don't like it when a fuel line has a dip in it making the fuel run uphill to the carburetor. When hooking up a temporary tank I make sure the fuel...

Re: Removing Lug Nut from Spinning Stud
Use an air grinder with a round head carbide burr bit to grind the nut and stud down.
You 10 gallon compressor probably will be pretty undersized for the task though.

Re: Storage
For storing the battery I'd fully charge it and then set a reminder on my phone every two or three months going forward to check it with a voltage meter or a hydrometer.
Charge if needed.

Re: Deep knocking sound
In my earlier post (#8) I posed several questions in regards to timing being too advanced and possibly causing a knock.
Is this a new problem since you installed the new head?

Re: Deep knocking sound
Is this something new since the head was replaced?
Have you driven it yet?
With the higher compression heads they tend to knock much easier.
Try to purposely set the timing retarded a bit...

To paint the entire engine, flywheel housing, bell housing and misc parts I find it takes a bit over two cans to get it all done.
I use one of the three cans of paint to do the final coat on each...

Re: Backfire
Usually takes a little farther than a half mile but if your gas cap is plugged you might be creating a vacuum in the gas tank and starving for fuel.
Drive with the gas cap off to see if that solves...

Re: Need information on rebuilding A Engine
Eagle has some very good advice.
Get a mechanics stethoscope and do some listening to see if you can narrow down where the knock is coming from. A loose timing gear can make it sound like the engine...

Re: Motor shuts down
See if you can borrow a known good distributor from someone else and run that for a while to see if the problem goes away. Will narrow things down a bit.

Re: Loss of power,
Sounds like your flexible wire under the plate in the distributor is grounding out when your retarding the spark. Often the "flag" end of the wire isn't bent correctly and will cause problems.

Re: puzzled
Take some toilet paper and start dabbing around on the engine checking for the paper getting wet. Does a really good job of finding elusive coolant leaks.

I vote for engine only. Also I remove the headlight bar and the bumper. Makes it a heck of a lot easier to move around and work on it.
